Author Topic: Does anyone know an mp3 to AAC converter?  (Read 1730 times)

Nintendo was too loving stupid to add support for the mp3 file that almost everyone uses and has on their computer, so I'm forced to convert all my mp3s into AAC if I want to listen to them on my DSi. I don't want to buy a converter, and I don't want trial software that will force me to only convert 20% of the file or something. I also don't want to use iTunes, I just got ituneshelper.exe to stop running at startup even after I got rid of iTunes.

i like .flac

the mp3 is coming close to its end days anyways

Very few actually good media players support .flac without plug-ins, though. :(

The only reason you would want to listen to it on your DSi is if you can't afford an iPod.

I had an iPod and hated it, if I had a DSi I'd sooner use that to listen to music than an iPod any day. Why would you even need an iPod when you have something that can play music on the go, anyway?

Because not all media playing devices are the same?

They're generally pretty similar.

iTunes is the best for converting mp3 to AAC.

EDIT:  Then I read that you don't like iTunes, and realized that I don't like you for it.

Protip: Get an MP3 player not made by Apple.

Well I actually ended up using the iPod until the hard-drive finally failed, which happened sometime this year, it was at least durable. I got it in 2004, I think, because it was brand new and they didn't have any cases yet. I have yet to purchase a new MP3 player, though. . I really need one, but I can't find one with enough space. :s
EDIT: Looking at the Wikipedia page it was definitely 2004 since I was able to connect it through Firewire to my computer.

Do you even know what a DSi Is?

I would suggest not using converting sites, Most of them will forget up the quality in some way.

And it will sometimes make it impossible to mess with the little feature the DSi sound thing has.

The worm, I might be selling my Sansa view 8GB on ebay after my birthday.
