Hey, my dad doesn't want me to forward ports so I can host a server because he thinks it is unsafe security wise. Is there really any danger, like, at all?

No, it's not dangerous.
Port forwarding only controls traffic.

If he still says no, do it while he's not home. Unless he checks your security and stuff everyday, he will never find out.

Even if he does check the security stuff, port forwarding is not in the security section, it's in the application section.
