Author Topic: What happened to the English language?  (Read 9890 times)

Sorry, I couldn't read your post.  What did it entail?
So now you're just ignoring people who spell differently?
Ignorance won't get you anywhere far, aside from making you look like a complete ass. Also, as I have stated already, you're not looking very smart with this thread.
Just being redundant though; shoot me.

I don't care that much I just hate hypocrites who speak out against people who make the same mistakes they do. (in other words, I'm a hypocrite hating hypocrite.)

wasnt talking to you, but hey whatever. I personally think youre pretty good person, or maybe i just dont remember the last time you did something handicapped.
either way, no hard feelings.

Spell differently?  Spell incorrectly.  Go back to second grade, and take spelling again please.  And for forget's sake, take one keystroke to capitalize the letter I.  God damn.

why do you care so much?
it shouldnt be the presentation that matters, it should be the content.

Aside from his smart assery, he almost has a plausible point.

While the content is the most important, understanding it is also just as important.

Pull your loving pants up, wear a belt, and stop wearing gold in your mouth. Gold makes your mouth smell like loving stuff.

My only real complaints.

Who said you had to use a loving period all the time? Yes in school but I don't think in chat on computers or texting on phones, you should have to use correct grammar all the time, at least good enough so we understand what the hell you're saying.

Oh, and Packer, I see you're a part of the problem.  I thought you were on my side D:

WE ARE GOING TO CHANGE. THE. WORLD.

And on the same note as otis, you should be
dragged into the street and shot!).

writing formally was not my argument here, i was just saying that i for one dont really check my grammar as deeply unless its for formal purposes, and that really caring as deeply as you two do is pointless and annoying.

my philosophy is this:
if you can understand what theyre saying within 1 second of beginning to read it, its acceptable.
for example, if someone says "oh man that guys spelling was horrid" i would treat it the same way as "Oh man, that guy's spelling was horrid." why? because my mind can make conclusions based on context. so in a sense what youre actually doing is trying to take away a good form of practicing educated guesses.
but hey its whatever you want, and im sorry for coming across so well, cross before. i was just not in a good mood.
and also i know that i act like a total handicap on the internet (which as i hopefully conveyed earlier, i dont care about its view on me)
the reason is because i like to be educated in real life more, but being a teenager, i have to release the obscenity and handicapation somehow, so thus, here we are.

oh as an extra little note: i still think zmobie is downsizing people a little too much. if you were as smart as you are trying to convey to us through your 'literacy', then youd be perfectly accepting of everyone else's view on the subject. but then again, if you were as accepting as that, you wouldnt have started this thread in the first place.
However, as I said before, if you were to make a good argument and use bad grammar at the same time, then a majority of people won't listen to you. You see, regardless if you are making a good point or not, people wouldn't would bother listening to you because it's equivalent to asking advice from an ant. Being a kid isn't also an excuse for spelling badly. I'm also a 13 year old also, and I dare not to spell awful. I must admit, you make a great point on "accepting everyone's views on this subject". Sadly, I'm being bias-using the facts that support me-.

At a certain, point, it gets to that low extreme.  We've all seen it on BL at one time or another and if it continues, it won't matter if you are literate because you won't be able to decode what the handicaps are saying.

1337 - It took over all the good games.

txt - Teens..

English - Got forgeted up by rappers.

Cubans, Mexicans, Blacks all talk like that in my school, and only one of my black friends talks like a normal loving human.

Sounds like me...

Well part of the problem comes from immigrants who come to our country and make a half assed effort to learn the language. But at least they tried, I suppose. Some immigrants don't even bother and that's the other problem.

Another source for it is due to censorship. You wouldn't think it would be the likely problem, but the rap industry has to make up words to bypass the censors and still seem edgy and offensive.

Another reason, lack of education. Since the quality of our educational standards is dropping rapidly, and since kids are becoming more defiant as the generation gap increases, more and more kids are dropping out before they graduate thinking that they can cope with the world without it. Some find a  way, others spend their lives in McJobs.

The main reason, laziness. Plain and simple. People don't care to spend the time to type a full thought/word into a text and abbreviate most of what they try to say.

But that's just my opinion on why the world is slowly going to turn into the movie Idiocracy.
