Me and my friends have been working on an apocalyptic zombie server and are building the map currently. The server should be Flippy's apocalyptic zombies coming soon. It will be password protected so only me, him, and our friends can get in. Look for that server and if it doesn't say beta and is open then join and tell us what you think. Oh...and also, do you think this is a good idea?

Seriously though, make sure that your server has some original designs, and try giving the actual thing a backstory. having a couple of items that when clicked display some text that explain what has happened before (Like how the Apocolypse happened) It can really aid to the relism of it.

We are still working on the map and will have newspapers and journal entries explaining history and survivor stories.

Sounds like that'd work. Make sure there are lots of crumbling and/or burnt buildings. If you want, I can make an edit of Apocalyptic Wasteland to fit your needs.

Thats a great start. (with a friend) I have created/co-created an Apocalyptic style build and a Challenge build, both of which use events to convey a backstory. 

In my Apocalypse build, i used a Radio to show a 'looped message' being sent out that tells exactly what was happening.

In the challenge build, there is a backstory to it about a scientific experiment gone wrong, and i used events to make one of the scientists diaries readable and give some info on what exactly is the purpose of being there. It really does help give realism and aid to the build.
