Author Topic: Hai, bai, wai?  (Read 1713 times)

Why do people say hai, bai and crap like that now? I've noticed that on the forums a lot lately. Is that like a new trend or something? Wouldn't it be much easier or just as easy to say hi, or bye?

hai dude you gotta get over it. bai

hai, i hurd u dun liek wurds. wai? well, bai naoz.

They're some of the few internet slang words that people don't really mind. Unlike..."plz".

...

*shudder*

I'll be happy if they would just write "plz". Since when did the "plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz z" got in trend? Why isn't just one "z" enought. And for god's sake, why "z" and not "s"?!

I used to talktype with stuff like plz, sry, lol, etc., but I recently decided it was stupid and started typing with grammar and actual words.
But these are extra handicapped because it takes longer to type hai then hi.

They write it as plz to type it faster, but kinda ruin the point of speed when they hold the z key for a second.

You just registered on the forums lately.
Not that I'm one to talk....

My way of thinking is that blockland is a game, and the forums is well, a forum. I try to maintain as high a level of spelling and grammar as possible here, for sure. Any forums is horrid when people start saying plz and thx in the middle of forum posts.

I'm a little more loose ingame though. The point of a game is to have fun, so who cares if it's faster to shortform a word. That doesn't mean my conversations are: plz gve me a gun kthx, but it isn't such a big deal in a game. I also think plz, thx, etc. are really over-noobed. People associate these words with noobs because they haven't learned that balance yet and tend to overuse these words. Shortforms really are faster than typing please or thank you, although really; please and thanks are politeness things and really shouldn't be shortformed. Something like Hai though? I use them occasionally when I'm greeting people in a certain way. Hello is more formal than Hi, just like it feels like Hai is less formal than Hi. This prompts me to use them when greeting my close friends, especially when they're not really leaving for a long period of time. I've never heard of wai...

Meh, I've seen people combine them into one word...

You haven't seen the way some Asian girls type. They add unnecessary vowels, and double the vowel if it's at the end of the word. So it'd be something like this:

"hii i aam aa retaard"

Furthermore, they think they're being cute that way.
