Author Topic: Buying Torque?  (Read 1877 times)

I was going to get Torque 3D when I get the money and I wanted to know if Torque is good for FPS. Also, would Torque come with some kind of AI?

I am getting TGEA. I would get it as a starter also. T3D costs WAY more then TGEA and it would become a waste if you don't know how to use or do not like. I think it comes with some kind of AI car but I dunno. There are plenty of content packs you can buy. There is a gun pack that might work good for an FPS but it is 100 somthing $. If you don't have that kind of money, just work on editing the crossbow it comes with.

@Both of you: There's no point buying a game engine when you don't know anything about C++ or making games. Its a total waste of money and you should go spend it all on Tech Decks instead.

And if you were to learn C++, I'd use one of the Quake engines instead.

TECK DECKSHTH

Lol @ that

More likely just go waste it on real skate boards and eventually work your way up to weed and chain smoking and get some girl pregnant.

Again, quick to make assumptions.

Well you probably don't know C++.

Go ahead and lie to me, tell me you know C++. Everyone will know you're bullstuffting and you'll make yourself look even more pathetic.

Hell Yeaaahhh.

I'm going to some thing for C++ in the summer and I'm learning it at school next year. I just want to have something to play with that would actually be better for me than CS:S for 7 hours. But right now, I don't know that much. It's not like it would be a big deal to get this, getting $300 is no problem for me. I just don't want to waste money if I can't do what I want to.

dude tech decks lol
i had one years ago :D

If you just want to get it to practice C++ in why don't you just get on of the cheaper versions of the engine? In fact there's probably some free open source engines that run on C++ for you to mess with.

I'm currently using the Torque Engine, I don't see a use of any of the other Torque Engines (yet) mainly because of the extra features I wouldn't use.
