GMod Purchase Fail

I try buying the game Garry's Mod, but this error pops up:

Your transaction failed because you are trying to buy a game that requires ownership of another game you do not currently own. Please correct the error and try again.

I don't know why. I looked at the games needed and I have one of the games in the list.

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch

Do I need a different one or something?

I should add, I got the game for free, could that be the reason?

Cause if you got it for "free" free, then no, it wouldn't work.

Legal, he either has Nvidia or an ATI card and theres a thing that gives you Portal first slice, lost coast, and HL2:DM free and legal.

Well wait, how exactly is Half Life death match a good enough source game for Gmod? I think you need normal Half Life before you can have DM, and if not, Gmod requires Half Life, most of it's main props are from that game.

Though you say it was on a list. So I am confused.

HL2 is not required for Gmod, either HL2:EP1, HL2:EP2, CS:S, Half life: Source, Team fortress 2, Portal. You need 1 of those to run GMod
