I sincerely doubt that it put the power out in other people's homes.
The most it could do is blow a fuse in your own home.

That, and most laptop designs, if the company that designed them is smart, are made so that liquids will spill out the sides and won't get inside. Unless you like opened your cd drive and poured water right into there.

If any water got in your hard drive, it would be broken completely or corrupted, not partly erased.

I had most things backed up... Still, its weird. I'm on my laptop now and all the Windows32 data is reset... Ny keyboard has a glitch. Basicly my bottom keys all foward by 1. (zxcvbnm,./) Its diffixult to type bow.
