The Rumors of Weapon Propagation are Greatly Exaggerated

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, there's a lot of opposition to... well, pretty much everything now, but I'll draw some focus to the upcoming addition of a trading system; it is this intended addition that causes us to receive even old items we already have instead of the shiny new Spy/Sniper items (that we may have, in turn, been whining about not two days ago.)

One of the largest arguments against this feature is that "it's stupid", but I submit unto you that "NUH UH, YOU'RE STUPID, STUPID-FACE!"

However, one of the reasonable complaints is that everybody's got all the stuff from the Medic, Pyro, Heavy, and Scout packs, so you have a bunch of people getting the stuff they already have, pursuing the rare stuff they don't.

To those, I submit the following stats, taken from the global achievement progress stats:

22.5% of players have achieved Medic Milestone 1; therefore, 77.5% of players have NO Medic unlocks at all. Granted, the Medic achievements are generally believed to be the hardest, but this still means that the have-nots outnumber the haves more than three to one.

Similarly, 73.7% have no Pyro items, 78.9% have no Heavy items, and a whopping 88.0% have no Scout items.

That's a truly staggering amount of players that are unarmed--most of them, if they have any items, probably only have them on their favorite class, earning achievements as they play, without actively seeking them. A good chunk of them probably don't even fully understand how the achievements and items work.

Remember that, not only is the community on the Steam forums a vast minority, but we also tend to be the most active and knowledgeable part of the community--we are that tiny percentage of players that actually have all the items so far. We tend to play on servers where "people know what they're doing", which means we tend to play with more of our own--we only see people who have everything. The tiny sample of the TF2 community we have regular encounters with is not representative of the community at large.

It is important when approaching these updates that they are meant for everyone, and since there are a lot more of "them" then there are of "us", that means a lot of the content might appear "useless"; this does not mean we can dismiss it as such. It also doesn't mean this is turning the game into an MMO or an RPG or whatever; you could name any number of things that the two genres have in common already, and have had in common from the start, and you could still name a myriad more that they don't. You could probably name several things the game has in common with dating sims or real-time strategy, but does it mean they're turning TF2 into those?

If Valve wanted to make an MMO, they would. If they wanted to make a normal FPS, they would. They make Team Mother%&$#ing Fortress 2, which stands alone.

In short:

And I have only 62% of the update done :(

What do items look like when they're dropped?
Do they drop after you've killed someone?
Does every player have a chance to grab the item?

You don't pick them up, it simply appears in chat: "PLAYER has earned ITEM".

39% D:

This is going to take a long time. Probably passed 1 a.m. for me. I don't want to stop, either, because then I'll have to take the time to redo it tomorrow. :c

finally after a half day of playing I got a new item.

yesterday and today i was playing and i still got no weapon.

I WANT THEM NAOW.

Actually there are 2 more achievements that i can do without the new weapons. all the other ones are the pee and the bow and arrows and i no sniper new weapons.

Make sure all the settings aren't anything crazy like 999999999999

Make the round time 0, max rounds like 90

Once ingame, type this into console:
lan 0 (Might be sv_lan 0, not sure)
sv_pure 1

Then it will work like a regular server. I got a few of the weapons this way.

Those are the settings that I used for overnight.

It's pretty sucky now.

+ 100% accuracy
+ EXTREME INTIMIDATION if the enemy does not have it.
- Lower damage than the revolver despite the bullets being awfully huge
- First shot is 100% accurate; gotta wait a second and a half (or so) to get it back to 100% accuracy. -15% firing rate has no difference if they're all gonna miss anyway.
- Headshots do nothing. Just for aesthetics purposes and a kill icon.
- Butt ugly due to colour contrasts.
- Headshots and Bodyshots do the same damage
- Rarely crits, if not at all.

I thought so >:)

Just got the Ambassador off my server :)

Just a note capt. jack,

Go to an open space on your server (Once in a team) and use +forward and +left to continuously walk around in a circle.

I tried doing it in spec, but I've had more luck this way so far.
