The universe is a huge ass place. Humans or any other life we know of could never travel for the length of time it takes to go from one habitable planet to the next. What makes you think a group of beings would travel the distance to a planet they hardly know any thing about just to say hi? If anything, it would be fore invasion and even so, we are still to young of a planet to be known about and be traveled to.

You are forgetting that to just KNOW of us is going to take a stuff load of time. They will invade us if they got here. No, they are not going to wait so long to just send a few ships. Not only that, you would have to cross dimensions to travel in the fashion you are saying. I doubt they have that much energy at hand.
