Creating Icons

I'm just wondering how most people create brick icons. I've heard so many ways but none of them turn out good. So i ask how do you create good brick icons.

Place a white brick in construct (it helps if you turn the sky black) and then compare its colors to those of the default brick icons. Compare it to the angles of default icons, too. Adjust the sun with mession editor until you've got it just right. Then, take a screenshot and cut out the empty borders. Shrink it down to 96x96 and you're done.
