Author Topic: Looking to upgrade my HP pavilion somecrap.  (Read 2011 times)

Well, I really really want a new graphics card, because this 9300 is x100000 worse than my old 7600GT, so I was looking to buy a new one, it has to be one of the cheaper ones like 8800GT or Radeon HD 4870, I was looking at a HD 4870 actually but I'd like some pro peoples opinion
Also, how do I see what ram I have, like DDR, DDR2, DDR3?

We'll need to see your graphics card.
But I recommend a Quad-Core.
And, how do I check my system specs? Tell me please :3

Well, I really really want a new graphics card,

Why is your DXDIAG in German?

I think a better question is why is it it Danish, and unsurprisingly, the answer is because he lives in Denmark.

9300, 8300, etc are all low end cards. 9600, 8600 are pretty good mid-range cards. The ones that end in 800 or whatever other numbers are high-end cards, even if it isn't a newer one with a fancy 9 in it (or the even newer ones that have a completely new naming scheme I'm not familiar with because I haven't had to upgrade a computer in several months).

So don't buy something with a 300 in it.

I know this, but I pretty much got it from my brother because my old broke, but I was wondering if anything would bottleneck a HD  4780 before buying :V

If you're going for ATI I'd recommend the HD 48XX series.

If you're looking at GeForce, I highly recommend the 9800GT. Very great card.

It costs more than the 8800GT, and both perform well. He said he wanted something on the cheaper side.

I'm just giving my opinion, I've never tried the 8800GT but I don't have any doubts that its a good card.

Well, I have been told, the difference is so little, that it doesn't matter at all.

Go for the 9400 GT.

I love it, and it isn't that expensive.

65$-70$

The HD 4830 should be great then. He could get this for $99.

This is also a little bit of what the HD4830 is capable of.

I would hardly call that an upgrade.

Well, the 9400GT is a good upgrade from a 9300GE but it's not that much, so I'm not getting that..

Too bad Newegg doesn't deliver to denmark :(

Price of the HD4830 in denmark: $156.03
Price of the HD4870 in denmark: $269.26
