Haven't bothered to read the thread due to a strong (very strong) possibility of an off-topic threadjack somewhere back there, but I think shields are an important part of AoT. They're the only things that can possibly measure up to bunny-hopping. Which people do anyway while spamming fireballs. I hate that.

Using a shield is a valid tactic, just like aranging soldiers into a box formation, luring in elephants, and having your hopolites kill them. Its also equally as valid as attacking soldiers at night, while they are eating dinner, or on holidays. Or sorrounding a keep in a palaside.

But i think shields are >= lame when in a 1 on 1 duel. It takes too long to get it over and done with. You should be able to dodge if you're not malcoordinated.

I shield if they shield in duels but lately I haven't so that I can learn to learn to dodge better.

See duels are different. First person to draw and fire wins when someone says go. Of course, you have to have crossbow to do it.

Drawing and quartering, with a sword, is obviously a lot more messy.

Earlier today Ephialtes and Destruction came on (I don't enjoy they're company, they're always making loveist comments on how woman are inferior and aiming them towards Mew) And they were throwing their usually insults at me, heard them all before. I told Ephi and Destruction to come to the arena so I can see if they're really as bad as they think they are. They're not. We got in the ring, and they had swords and I had a sword and a shield. So they started double teaming me , as noobs tend to do, and I killed them both. They said the usually noob losing quote "Lol noob" and told me that shielding is for noobs. If shielding was for noobs, why would Badspot create it? For noobs? The really funny stuff comes next. I went into the ring again, without a shield, and I dueled Ephialtes, but the entire match Mew was asking me "Did you get MSN messenger yet? Dimi, did you get it yet? What's your name? " so I stopped fighting and was typing a response when Ephialtes (Knowing I'm typing) kills me. If you saw someone standing still in the arena, motionless,you would assume they're typing. I told him I was typing, but he said one of the most famous noob quotes of all time "Lol sure". So Destruction was next. He beat me fair and square, but before I could say nice one, the two boyfriends starting thorwing insults, but they were so stupid, I couldn't help but laugh. "Hahah shielding is for nubs. How many times did you see someone using a shield on tv? Hahah! "
          The whole while a few people watching and Katie saying "Go Dimi!!!Go Dimi!!!" I wasn't exactly sure why lol, but I assume it's because she's tired of their stupidity herself. But then Destruction said something that pissed everybody off. "No Ephi, he's American. " Ephialtes laughed, and said "Yeah, they can't see past they're front lawn because they're fat covers it up." Everybody got mad then, Not because it's true, I don't even think it's physically possible, but because that they just tossed a tribal comment into the air. So then the barrage began of insults against Americans, each making less sense than the last. My favorite one was "If England faced America, we'd win." I just cracked up laughing at my laptop,because America had already beat England humiliatingly, not that I expected those two to know. I said "Really? How about the Revolutionary War? Where a bunch of American pilgrims kicked England's highly trained army butt?" " Nope " was the answer, as most noobs say when you prove a point. I'm cracking up laughing still, because I had the idea of putting it on the forums for your enjoyment.
 
 The real question I wanted to ask you is do you think shielding is noobish?

 P.S. I know Ephialtes and his goons are going to crap all over this thread, but who cares, it was worth it for all the laughs.
