Author Topic: Okay. I'm Convinced.  (Read 4939 times)

I was messing with the demo, I don't have any cash at the moment so I asked my dad. He said he'd think about it.

I love this game, it's so loving awesome.

Glad you like the game, hope to see you out of the demo and online soon.  :cookieMonster:

Thanks. :D

I'm sure I will be. It's so fun for me just to screw around with the lights and colors and everything. Roblox never had anything like it so I need to get used to it. :D

I tested out my simple skills so far with the demo bricks and tried for a small gas station. I have a feeling I can rise to the top of this game!

Woah, slow down there. You must be kidding right? Unless you are willing to practice 24/7 the you won't reach the top until about 3 years. Which by then Blockland will be deadish.

how could you type that!!!(don't think those thoughts)

Wow, I wish I could tell the future like you.

You sound decent. Welcome.

You know, i had the demo for about an hour and i bought it.  It was totally worth.

You sure do.

I got the demo as soon as it came out for mac. (v1.03)
I still have that demo, sometimes I play it just for kicks, no events though :(
But I made the huge mistake of waiting until v10 to buy it. (The demo is boring compared to the full version, and being able to write torque script makes it soooo much better.)

128000 is the limit. you can go higher, but other people wont be able to see them if your hosting a server.(i think)

it also depends on your computer.

you can't go higher from what i have done, i hit the brick limit with BLPAG.

Pretty much. The limit is around 280,000 bricks or so, but I've heard of people breaking that limit somehow.

Your build has to be absolutely, impossibly massive to hit that limit.
I hit that limit, and my build was made of 1x1 plates stretching most of the bedroom wall, visit my BLPAG thread to see a picture of it.

...What?

We've had people join the community and quickly become expert builders in the past. It doesn't require practice, it requires vision and patience. By your logic, we have no "top builders"(considering the amount of the time the game has been released and the amount of time you listed)

Blockland's popularity remained stable for over 3 years without a single update and a 3000 or so brick limit. You can't tell me the game is going to be "deadish" in 3 years, especially with the frequency and variety of updates. Well, you can tell me, but I won't believe you.

The mods produced now are way more unique then the stuff produced on the beta as well. Back then it was good enough to pull a free vehicle model off turbosquid and copy a vehicle script for it, or mod an ak47 to shoot a billion bullets and release it as a "new and innovative firearm." Now we've got complicated game modes, weapons with multiple firing modes... I mean, for quite a while the only custom gamemode for Blockland was fortmod, and it basically modified the entire game permanently - you couldn't build normally anymore, you were stuck in team fort mode until you reinstalled the game. BLM, AIO, basically every major mod had some kind of basic DM mode. It wasn't until the very end of the beta's lifespan that we got cops and robbers, racing, mountain climbing, rpg and zombie modes. Now people crank this stuff out every few weeks with some new awesome groundbreaking mod coming out every few months. The modders today are either more talented (I wish I could say the same for the mappers, haha) or the new game made it easier to mod. Probably both. Despite the limited nature of the mods on the beta and the total lack of updates, it stayed popular for several years. Imagine what the future of Blockland holds now. The moddification discussion forum is full of lots of cool projects. If even one of them gets finished, there's a good chance of it becoming the next big thing.

I think the stream of updates and the active modification community will keep the game alive for a long time.

Okay, lol just got pwnt by Wedge. :(

In three years some people here might be gone but it looks like there will always be a new group of people filling in for those that leave. I think we still have a lot of possibilities in building gamemodes, I might even give one a shot.

Goodie, more code for me to fail at learning at.

I was wondering around the Gallery forum and looking at others builds. How come nobody gets really detailed?
Note that you can do more with LUA though. I also came from ROBLOX, and PLEASE don't flame because of that.
