Author Topic: Swine flu now a "Panademic"  (Read 2054 times)

Great, just when we though it dissapeared leaving the face of the earth and news reports.

Maybe the media could be lieing.
Again.

Disappeared?! It's all over Scotland.. Three local schools near me have shut and a teacher and one senior pupil from mine are off with it!

I'm not worried though, I never catch flus - too much of a hygiene freak.

you all act like this is new.
i think it was big and scary in the 70s to.
was about as dangerous as the common flu(s) and went away.
will happen again and again,

you guys just watch to much network tv

You have to remember though, calling it a 'Pandemic' means nothing about it's strength. Being classed as a 'Pandemic' simply means, that it has crossed across so many-countries. (I also think that it's at Pandemic Level 6, which means Human-to-Human spreading, although, i don't know if that's specifically correct. I don't really understand all of their classifications) I'll start worreing when it gets to a stage similar to the 'Plague, or Spanish Flu' Then, we can have some fun :D   Also, what with cold and Flu's you can say by to the Old People, this Winter :P

This morning the radio announced that in 1 school they tested 6 kids, 4 had H1N1 in just one elementary school, Damnit Las Vegas is forgeted.

A pandemic (from Greek παν pan all + δήμος demos people) is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads through populations across a large region; for instance a continent, or even worldwide.

Quote
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), a pandemic can start when three conditions have been met:[1]

Emergence of a disease new to a population.
Agents infect humans, causing serious illness.
Agents spread easily and sustainably among humans.
A disease or condition is not a pandemic merely because it is widespread or kills many people; it must also be infectious. For instance, cancer is responsible for many deaths but is not considered a pandemic, because the disease is not infectious or contagious.

I'm no where near afraid of this outbreak.  Only two men in Pennsylvania have had the swine flu.  It's really nothing t obe afraid about anywhere, really.  It's just as just as weak as the basic flu.

Ah, Yes, that does just back up my point. Being a Pandemic meens nothing about how it can kill, just that it has spread over certain distances, infected humans, and can cause severe illness.

Dont worry only mexicans have died from it (no sarcasm) thats because they have a horrible medical supplies. We declared a pendemic like this nearly 40 years ago the virus didnt kill a soul, we killed 3 people accidentally with failed vaccines, dont worry you'll only take a risk if you take the vaccine.
It's A LIE

These three conditions are met, so it counts for a pandemic

Also it is being handled, it helps that everyone is so paranoid about it too. The only problem is if the condition escalates for whatever reason it could cause a huge panic, which would be bad.

37 people have actually died in the US. That's just about a third of how many people die daily from car crashes in the United States.

We're so forgeted. :c
