Try the Autoplay Repair Wizard:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=C680A7B6-E8FA-45C4-A171-1B389CFACDAD&displaylang=en

If that doesn't work: Assuming that you have XP: go to the Device Manager and right click the drive and choose Uninstall ... then reboot. XP will reinstall the drive and drivers.

If that hasn't fixed it there are some general ideas here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321641/en-us

Last but not least: as the computer is less than a year old I assume that it is under warranty.

If so you should have access to free support or repair from your manufacturer.

autoplay repair wizard didnt work and i cant find device manager D:
nvm found it hold on

FFFFF IT STILL ISNT WORKING

That's really weird.

Does the SD card work with other devices (Wii, DS and other sd card reading devices)?

works with my wii
do i need some kind of drivers for it?
(oh it works on my friends laptop, it has vista)
oh and i have a vista laptop also but i have something loving jammed in the sd card slot
any advice on getting it out?

Does device manager have a caution symbol next to it?

no
please.. oh my god someone help me :(

You can get the card jammed in the laptop slot out by taping some duck tape to another card and pulling it out. I've done that with mine before.

no duck tape
i would like to fix my desktop though please any ideas? D:

Get a pair of tweezers?

Have you ever used the card reader? Anything in the Bios about it being disabled? Is it actually hooked up correctly? I wouldn't mess with the Bios or hardware if you don't know what you're doing.

yes I've used it before
and nitramtj i tried every thing including tweezers and pliers
that son of a bitch is NOT coming out.

oh forget this it doesnt even think the thing is in anymore
im just going to buy an adapter
