Well, recently I got a new computer.
I also recently got the Sims 3.
Sims 3 is laggy even on low settings, and I'm wondering why it's doing that even though my computers rating is 5.6

So can anyone tell me what I need to update/fix?

my friend got an ass computer with 1g memory and some stuffty pci 256m video card.
and the game runs great on medium settings.
-on vista

The Sims must hate me then.
D:

in fact the game actually runs better then sims2 was made to

Maybe it doesn't like 64-bit?

Maybe it doesn't like 64-bit?
maybe, any way i can fix that?

Well, install a 32-bit version of Vista. But I wouldn't do that unless I was sure that's the problem. I have no clue if that is. I'm just throwing that out there.

Check all your drivers are up to date, and close out of anything using a lot of memory and try it. (Sims 3, not reinstalling Windows)

would doing that delete all of my current stuff?

Maybe it doesn't like 64-bit?

sims 3 runs fine on 64 bit. It is running now on my system

Yeah, I'm not sure if you can do an upgrade from Vista to Vista (Which even sounds handicapped) so you'd have to.

It says I pass on everything.
and yet, I fail in game.

thats really odd. Try reinstalling.

I've got 64 bit and it runs fine. I've got 4.8 vista rating on the laptop I play it on and it runs fine :/

Does your video card support pixel shader 2.0?
