I saw a program on tv that followed some scientists who believe there is a wormhole between the pacific and atlantic oceans causing the Bermuda triangle, yea right. But hey, I might be wrong, I try not to completely shut the idea out.
Geologists believe it's actually due to the giant underwater gas pockets which erupt from time to time. Basically it creates a giant bubble of "lighter air" which, when it rises to the surface, causes all buoyant objects on top of it to sink due to the water tension in the area completely disappearing. In the air, the gas will expand and rise, any aircraft caught in it will steadily fall. On top of this, due to the lower pressure of the gas, the instruments will read that the plane is super high up in the air and stuff, pilots will likely decide to descend. It's a deadly combination.
