Author Topic: Space Guy is not going to make Bots  (Read 1984 times)

I am Space Guy's brother, and since the release of v9 I have been asking him to port Team Deathmatch and Bots because they were good mods that worked. Well, it took him over a year to decide to remake TDM, and he is definitively not going to do Bots because he doesn't want to port it but apparently doesn't want to remake it in case it isn't good enough.

I'm posting this to say that you can make your own Bot mods or port his; he's not going to suddenly come and release his as far as I know.

Finally, someone clears it up. Thanks.

This is your first post?

I forgot about the bots...

Yes, Soleron is my brother.

Very well. Here's my explanations for what's happened so far:

I have not been working on Bots recently, but I have not completely scrapped the idea.

My problems with making a new one are about some of the methods I am using to make it (some parts I've had to specifically hard-code/hack in to make it work with the Events system) but I am trying to figure these things out.

The main thing that stopped me working on it is when I ended up losing absolutely everything due to accidentally re-installing v9 without backing up Add-Ons. That did not help much. I had managed to recover some parts of the code for Team Deathmatch (and ended up making that) but everything I had for bots as a rudimentary movement/events control system was wiped off my hard drive completely.

I am not 'against' people porting the v8 mod or making their own Bots mods - my problem with Rykuta's "port" was that it was completely broken and didn't actually do anything useful. I'd prefer a new mod which actually takes advantage of the events system to allow for better uses - similar to how JVS Doors went from v8 and a GUI to v9.

I'm with you on this one.
Also, I just have to say.. Time Machine much?

This is in the right forum. Nvm.

All his bot mod will lead to is people stopping complaining about releasing it, but complaining when it breaks after an update, it isn't good enough, it "lags" and so on.

I don't get it, he can't go back in time to stop himself from deleting bots...?

That's the other thing. If I do finish the remake, I would like to have it so that it does not use SpaceTick - I'm not sure how possible/easy it is or whether I'd have to cut features to make it work, but it will prevent almost all of the lag that v8 bots had.

Time Machine is a mac capability for recovering lost or old data

See? I knew it! Lando owes me five credits.
