Author Topic: New monitor?  (Read 1935 times)

So, I need to get a new monitor, and, I've been debating between these two. I know, when some of you see dell you'll go "OMG WTF DELL SUCKS" but, it's a good ass monitor according to the specs and reviews from cnet.

it's a tough choice, apparently their both really good.

Well, I'll be back in a couple of hours to check this out. Laters.

Who's the idiot that said dell sucks?

Damn near every person I know :P. Dell computers for the most part from my experiences are god awful. As for their monitors, I wouldn't know. Only dells I've used though are the ones in public schools. Ugh, I shudder at the sound of public school computers.

It's not hard to decide what monitor to buy. Go with one that is Hd and has a glossy screen that wont reflect against the sun, Like gateway monitors.

Dell uses cheap parts.

Aside from that, they're okay. Nothing to brag about.

I just got this one and like it a lot, got it for $219.99 and then got a price adjustment when it went on sale for $189.99.

Give me your old monitor. Mine's not even flat screen.

doesn't work very good, it flickers on and off. And, as for the hd part, their both hd.

Go with the Dell, I have a 19" dell and a 19" proview, I'd rather have 2 Dells, just better color and thinner.

Dell used to be an awesome service when you could fully and I do mean fully build your computer at their site before they shipped it to you. Now it's mostly if all pre-built PCs and laptops with not as awesome of quality as before. It doesn't suck, per se, but it certainly wasn't what it used to be.

Their desktops aren't as good as they used to be, they do make a good laptop and monitors though.

On the subject of monitors, whats the difference between brown townog RGB and DVI?

I prefer DVI right now seeing as these stupid DVI-to-RGB convertors have really hard screws (My 9800GT has only two DVI outputs and an S-Video output), but any sort of difference?

Yeah, that's usually the result of "Oh stuff, we've hit a jackpot! Now let's cut costs to maximize the profit margin even more!"

Alright. Cool, thanks.

Ahh, the good ol' days.

I wouldn't agree with laptops, all the ones I've seen are super chunky and heavy. Just not my picking.

I believe DVI is just a different chipset that's more advanced, allows faster reading, and then RGB is just the older version of that, which takes longer for it to send thus causing the monitors to have a higher refresh rate?

Just about, yes.

Oh yeah, THAT'S why I hate my dad's dell.  :cookieMonster:
