Theory: Woman can't have babies on the island anymore because of the radiation created when jughead exploded.

Theory: Jacob and his enemy, whatever his name is, are gods. The island is their "playing field" for their little game. Jacob thinks that Humans can be good, while his enemy thinks they can't. He brings people to the island against or with their will and presents them with different situations.

OH yeah I forgot to mention I read somewhere that there is a lot of links back to the Egyptian gods on the island. In Jacob's territory there are signs of the god who is basically the good guy of the Egyptian gods, it might of been Ra actually. Also, in the Smoke monster's temple there are signs of the Egyptian god of the underworld/darkness kind of thing basically the evil god.
