Wow, I had that happen to me for a while. Except everything had at least one piece missing to it. Such as the sword had no hilt. Hmm, I think it had to do with triangles or something in options.

Sword had no hilt? Probably because a certain group was messed up.
Maybe he has to change his default falloff settings, it could be making the torso disappear.
He may just have to update his drivers.
