I have a brown tabby. They don't shed much, and if you hold the correctly, treat them respectfully, they wont claw you. Give your cat water often, otherwise it'll drink from cretan places. My cat only drinks from the tap :/
Don't get it declawed.

BTW, the pics aren't of my of my cat, its what I found off google images as my camera saves to a high quality so its too large.
