Author Topic: So about those Ebonics  (Read 1632 times)

Can anyone even decipher this stuff? Why can't people just talk the actual language instead changing words' meanings and what not.

{Oh and if anyone doesn't know what Ebonics are it's basic meaning is Black language "ebo" representing ebony which is a dark brown color and "onics" comes from phonics, the way I'm using it is what some people refer to as "Gangsta talk"

Oh excuse me, what is the proper way to speak?

Wazzup brotherh bitch, lets go shoot teh loops on the bridge o' white boyo's dawg.

I don't understand them half the time either D:

Oh goodness.  I hate when mexicans talk to me like this.

Yes I said Mexicans.

Oh excuse me, what is the proper way to speak?
The way you are. I don't care if people aren't talking perfectly but they should be talking in a way that people who speak the same language can understand them.

It's not hard to speak your primary language. No need for "ebonics" to declare your individuality.

I had to right a short essay for english that was about teen violence and one part of the essay was written in ebonics, it was phrased similar to this: Yo dawg wen dem hatahs go roun spittin raps bout yo mama dat hurt yo rep son den you wanna busta cap in dey ass

I never did hand that assignment in... oh well.

People can talk however they want. If it's the easiest way for them to get what they're saying across to people, then let them do it.

But it's not.
It's broken English, and most people don't understand it because it's broken.

Actual Ebonics is easier to understand than how most people use it.

THAT, isn't ebonics. That's people trying to show off that they tried, but failed. That's how most people talk today. As you said, that is wrong.

The English we speak today is a form of abbreviated and simplified old world English. Change is sadly inevitable despite our tendency to despise it.

o brother where art thou

o brother where art thou
I wish we still talked like this, it sounds so much more lovey.
