Sol
A Solar System Map...

Explaination
A few months after my last failed vehicle that Pandan can tell you all about. I decided to start to map, seeing that making add-ons wasn't my thing. So I have made several maps, none have been release but some requested. When I saw the Planets Map however, I decided to get more seriously into mapping.

The Planets Maps pros are:

Has good textures.
Nice idea of seperate platforms as planets.
And has the right idea going.

It's cons are:

Planets aren't in the right spot.
Most of them you can't build on.
Sun has no "fire" effects around it.
Planet's "platforms" poke through the outer mesh.

So as you can see, the cons not only out number the pros, but they weigh the map down too.

Plan
I believe if I gain a little more experience in other areas of mapping I can recreate this map to a better degree. So if anyone out there has a tutorial video on adding emitters to the Mission Editor and placing pictures on meshes, please share. My plan is to learn more then I know now in the next month or two. Then too start on the map and playing around with some effects and skybox themes. I would then begin making the map and would release it, if all goes well, hopefully by Septemer 11, 09*.

I guess I better scrape mine then :<

Don't announce something before you get somewhere with it.

Theres 2 modeling programs that are used a lot for making maps which i use, both are free. You can ethier go with blender - http://www.blender.org/ which is mostly for advanced modeling people, Or you can use milkshape - http://chumbalum.swissquake.ch/ Which is a basic modeling program, which i would recommend you. Those are mainly the 2 common modeling programs people use today. If im missing anything, please add.

You should add emitters to the sun to add fire.  I'm sure if you know what you're doing you can scrape together something good.
Also, on the inside of gas planets there should be some particles to simulate gas or something.  They should rotate too.  Skybox shouldn't be too hard to find.

Thanks, kinda already knew about them but, thanks.

Exactly what I want to do! :D

I just did. And mainly this stage of development is really just looking for tutorials...

Double Toast Bump.

Ok people, I would really appreciate a
tutorial video, of a different program, that is free, for the use in making Blockland maps, please share.

Almost 2nd page Bump.

I currently am fiddling around with some different things... I am also trying to fix problems in the original map.

Issues
Earth's Sky is the same texture as bed... (somehow)
Some planets have no base. (Not as much as an issue as a statement)
Not all planets have been relocated and resized.

I would also greatly appreciate if someone could still send me tutorial on:

Adding Emitters on the Mission Editor
Placing pictures on Meshes

Triple Toast Bump.

Quadruple Toast Bump... DISCUSS GOD DAMN YOU!!!

You might want to make floating baseplate like pads inside the planets to support building.

Already ahead of you, although I could use someone that could give me a platform that has custom pictures for the flat part.

Sounds cool.

Thanks, it is going smoothly but I am also juggling another map for the survival RP, a personal map, and a server that several people are bugging me about to get back up... So I am extremley busy...
