There's a ethernet port that you can use to connect Mac to router.

So shouldn't you be able to go to your router page(enter 192.168.1.1 or whatever it is for you in web browser) and go and forward it there?

Nope, he's using airport. That's not how'd you'd do it anyway, I think.

Well I can use wireless laptops and still do it the same way as wired computers.

I don't see the difference. What does it say when you try to go to the router page and forward ports?
Does it just not work? I thought macs are supposed to just work.

You do it from system preferences if you're wired (I think... never done it while wired), or Airport Utility if wireless. I've never been able to get to a router page, but I haven't really tried.

What type of router do you have?

What type of router do you have?

Lol I dunno. Whatever Comcast put in. And then we plugged our Airport base station in to it, set that up via one of our computers, and voila! internet. Then I port forwarded using the Airport Utility.

Wtf, you have to have another device just to use wireless internet on the mac?

Fail, in my opinion.

No, you don't have to. You can do it the normal way most people do, or you can use Airport. Same as on a PC, you can do it normally, or you can use Airport. Airport isn't mac-only, but it is made by apple. It's not required for wireless internet use, but lots of people that use Macs choose to because they like Apple products. I like Apple products, and I prefer to use airport.

Now I must go play my 360. /disloyalty

Tom

The one that Comcast gave him was probably a modem.

I dunno man. Is that how it works? Whatever comcast gave us we plug our Airport into.

How many plug-ins for ethernet did the Comcast thing have?

Well, I'm going to tell my dad that I need to forward this computers ports soon, so expect my server up to be between this week and next week.

And for my first server, it's going to be a "I can finally host" party.  :cookieMonster:

HAHAHAHA. MACS.

Macs are better than PCs, and don't give me any of that "You're just an ignorant Mac user, you don't know anything about PCs" garbage. I have two PCs, and the only thing I use them for is gaming (more specifically, Steam games and various other games that won't play on Mac, either because no one's bothered to make them for Mac, or because the more recent Mac operating systems don't allow them to run properly.) I know that PCs are good for some things, but Macs are better at almost everything than PCs are. My PC recently got 38 viruses, and constantly crashes. My 10 Macs have never had any viruses, and they have never crashed once, so don't go saying that PCs are better, because they're not.....

Sorry, I just HAD to do that...

My PC has exactly 27 viruses.

lol mac users are so loving stupid its amazing.

port forwarding on airport is the same loving thing as a router. in fact airport IS a loving router, but mac wants you stupid users to believe they reinvented the same stuff over and over.

cept they may call it port mapping instead of forwarding i believe, so that's the tab to hit.

god damn apple people are stupid
