Last time I succesfully port forwarded my dad said not to anymore(and un did it?) and he said its cause it messes up the router and stuff...is that true?My dad works on the computer so if port forwarding messes anything up that has to do with the router or internet connection my dad will kill me...

If you need any info like...what internet provider we have or what model router we use just ask...

No. Port forwarding cannot effect a router to a point of not working or not functioning correctly.
I don't know exactly what you dad thinks. But show him this.

Port forwarding can be compared to a house with doors.

The more doors you open, the more communication. (traffic)

Some programs use ports to communicate. By default, most routers have all ports blocked.
Opening all of your ports is commonly referred to as DMZ mode.

Blockland only requires ports 28000 and 28030 to be opened.
So, no. It doesn't do much. But allowing you to host.

Now, if you guys are connecting to your route via WIFI. Then you need to understand, port forwarding on some routers may require you to switch your wireless to B mode. If you have G or something else.

(applies to people who are hosting over wireless)

My dad says it allows people to "Access out computer"...it does right?but...not like...viruses...or......stea ling like...files, right?My dad says if I port forward it can give us viruses

One last thing...when the allow, keep blocking or whatever, thing pops up(it usualy does after I try port forwarding...) should I block or unblock?

i think its ports 28000-28030
not just the 2
