Try the compatibility option. Unless your pc is doing that the second you log in, then you formatted it wrong. People will piss and moan over how crappy something is when it all boils down to the fact that they don't understand how to use or properly manage something. I've never had a problem with XP or Vista because I took the time to actually read how to keep it working and what features it has to make things easier for me.
