Author Topic: Net Nanny: Consequences.  (Read 3335 times)

Before I say anything, never ever do what I did. go look at my topic "Net Nanny will be the death of me"
Okay. I did the safemode thing, and badda-bing, I made a huge mistake. Instead of deleting the file, I deleted everything inside the file, which not only forgeted up my computer but made it obvious I deleted my Arch nemesis.
Grr... That was dumb.
Also, If you're dumbstuff parents who think you can't handle looking at mature things on the web DL this app, just deal with it.
It's not the apocalypse or anything.
Beleive me when I say that they will get pissed if you delete their 40.00$ application.
Mine did. Go figure.
Discuss.

Why would I download something that blocks me from watching research? My cousin has it also, he can't view half of the blockland forums due to "swear" words.

Why would I download something that blocks me from watching research?
Exactly!

Anyways you just can't comprehend how to delete one part of it without loving up your computer.

Wait, they actually make you pay 40.00 to STOP watching research?

Same here, but you can always just go to a friends house and watch research there.
Or go on the interwebs on your phone and look at research.
Or maybe go to the movie store in Las vegas with a 26 year old and buy research?
Or buy grand theft auto and be in the research?
Or the many games that you have the famed love minigame?
Or-NOOOOOOOO I CAN"T THINK ANYMORE I HATE YOU NET NANNYY AAAHHHHHHHHHH

I never had any of this parental control when i was a kid, i just did whatever i pleased on the net. whichever friend invented this net nanny thing is a smartass and knows how to appeal to protective parents and makes lots of money. It's a waste of $40 a month and parents are stupid to give into that :x ..cause theres many different ways a child can look at 'adult material'

from 1-10 years old I never had the internet, Couldnt afford it.
Then i moved down south, I have unrestricted internet access.

I just watch all that stuff on my iPod :D

Even if your parents are pissed off, they deserve to waste their 40$ if they don't have an once of trust for you with your own computer.

Sorry, I had to.

Seriously. You're parents are stupid. Netnanny literally blocks 95% of the internet, the remaining 5% being stuff you don't want.

anti block can you change your name or something because i came in this topic expecting it to be written by anti-cop and atleast be half interesting

I posted all of this and you go with the remarkably stupid "Delete a bunch of crap and forget my computer over" Solution?

First things first, there is reportedly an "in-case-Mommy-forgot-the-password" backdoor to the program (some or all versions). Try ~frontdoor as your password.

Net Nanny Version 4.0: In Windows 98 or Windows ME, click Start > Run, and type msconfig in the box to start a Windows configuration tool. Go to the Startup tab, which displays a list of programs that run at startup. Uncheck the entries for "nntray.exe"and "NNSvsc", then restart. Net Nanny disabled! Thanks Jon M. for the info.

go to run type in MSCONFIG once you are in go to the services tab and uncheck everything to do with net nanny!

alright everyone, here is the down right easiest way to disable the latest net nanny (version 5.0 as of this writing); note that this will work for Windows, but I don't know if it will work for mac.

Go to My computer and click on the local disc drive (C:), then go to program files folder, then to the net nanny folder. Here's where the fun begins, try to rename anything that ends in .dll (short for dynamic link library). If you can rename at least one then you're good. All of these are application extensions that net nanny uses, so when you restart your computer, a message should appear that says that net nanny can't find the particular program that you renamed (note that some of them may be password protected, it's probably best if you log off net nanny before you do this). At this point, hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete go to the task manager and, well, the rest is fairly obvious. Oh, this should work even if you are not the administrator.

You can use this to Delete files if you do not have admin privileges. But don't delete things if you don't know what they are.

If you don't want to disable but rather go around it, you can use firefox + adblock plus + beatfiltering for youtube and other sites, and then you can just see if any sites you use have https://. For example, meebo has https://meebo.com/ . If you're using firefox, add "http://*meebo*" to the adblock plus list and you won't get any errors.

Bypass Net Nanny
I am going to tell you how to bypass Net Nanny. The process is straightforward and works without admin privileges on Windows Vista and Windows XP. The trick works on Internet Explorer as well as Firefox.

To bypass Net Nanny download a small piece of anti-censorship software called UltraSurf http://www.ultrareach.com/download_en.htm . Extract the software to a location where it doesn’t call attention - not on your desktop! If you want to bypass Net Nanny while surfing with Internet Explorer just click the executable u94.exe; no installation is required. Net Nanny won’t be able to block any sites, and won’t report visited Web sites either. So as not make somebody suspicious that you have managed to disable Net Nanny you should go to Option and tick “Hide Golden Lock”. Then restart UltraSurf.

If you use Firefox download the Add-on for Firefox http://www.ultrareach.com/download_en.htm . Read and follow the instruction how to install the Firefox on the vendor’s web site. You can toggle UltraSurf on and off by clicking the WJ Enabled / WJ Disabled button right corner. You can change it to the UltraSurf logo if you want: In the Firefox menu bar go to Tools and select add-ons. Select UltraSurf Firefox Tool and click Options. Change Status bar display format to Icon. You need to execute the UltraSurf.exe before using Firefox.

UltraSurf will block some Adult Website as the software has originally been designed to overcome censorship in China. You can easily overcome this obstacle by visiting www.gateproxy.info: use your browser with UltraSurf enabled and navigate to www.gateproxy.info. Enter the URL of the site you want to visit and click Browse or Go.

Enjoy!
