Okay, who the hell told you to press y and x?
Now, your usually supposed to just select the cheats you want, then select the game's name you want the cheats after they were enabled. On the bottom, it should say "X" or something like that, that says START GAME besides it. It will tell you to remove the disc, insert the game of your choice, and then close the lid. The game will continue to play with the cheats enabled.
