About

Well, quite a few people asked me to host a modeling/add-on making class so I decided I would. The class will be hosted around 3pm Gmt-5 or -4. I will be teaching Blender. You may ask "Why not milkshape?" Well, Milkshape is fairly easy to learn so you shouldn't have much trouble learning it on your own. Blender however is much more difficult. I will not teach you how to set up the install the exporter though. Go bug someone else about that. Darkstar has a tutorial on it.

I will then be teaching you how to make your first weapon. Make your weapon have a reload after 2 shots, make your weapon stick to walls.

I will also be teaching particle basics. Particles can make your weapon unique and new.
Requirements
  • Blender 3d. Avalible at http://Blender.org
  • Patience. I will go slow.
  • Notepad
  • Blender DTS exporters. Find out where and how to get them via Blockland Downloadpage
  • A copy of Blockland for testing stuff out in game.
  • A google docs account (You must email me so I can register you for sharing)
You must also email me at mattman5696@gmail.com. I need to sign you up for the google docs so I can share some class stuff such as the fighter plane script.
Where?

That is the link to the actual class. I suggest you also have this running in the background

so you can hear my voice.
What will we learn?
  • Making your first model
  • Making your model look unique
  • Setting up your model for exporting
  • Making a gun type weapon (setting it up) and getting it to work in game
  • Making unique particles for your weapon
  • Making your first vehicle
  • Making a simple playertype
When does it start?
I will be starting in a few days. I will inform you on this topic when I will be starting. Until then, I will be teaching private lessons and taking requests and will be playing Blockland, Tf2 and such. Do not be scared to join before the class starts. In fact, you will learn alot just from watching me in those few days.

Note- Blender can be difficult to get working with Blockland. Sometimes models get flipped and look strange. It takes time to perfect. I will go over troubleshooting also since I will probably mess up an armature here and there.

Also, this is a basic add-on making class. Do not say "All you teach is gun edits." Everyone has to start somewhere. If you are willing to teach an advanced weapons class, feel free to. But don't complain that you can make cooler stuff or whatever. Like I said, if you can, make your own class.

I moved it to General so I could get people. I will lock this and re open the other one once I get people.

Sounds like Mr.Wallets class but who cares. Best of luck to you

His is a scripting class. Much more advanced and requires much more thinking. Mine is a modeling class mostly. I will teach how to set everything up for a successful add-on.

Aren't you still at the stage of putting the shapes inside each other?

If not, post a picture of that model in your avatar showing verticies. I wanna see that you're up to the job, and I have my doubts

I will get one in a sec. I use extrusion methods then delete the verts and stuff that I do not need.

Edit: I also use all 3 modes such as edge face and vertex.

Oh, very neat. I'll be tuning into this.

I will come. This has so much less requirements than Mr. Wallets.

I am setting up a ustream. Hopefully that can record the screen. If not, your mission is to find something that can.

Ok. I will be going slow since I am getting a new, fixed mic tommorow hopefully. Class is up, I will run through some basics. Do not fret if you cannot come today. I will repeat all this when it officially starts.

Ok, do this tutorial.

I will be back in like 15 minutes or so. Do that while waiting. It teaches you basic controls and such.

If that does not work, go to http://blender.org and do some basic modeling tutorials. The creating vase and winter scene ones.

The class will be hosted around -5 or -4 GMT.
What the hell does that mean?

You registered July 9, and you seem to know much for a newbie. Are you an alt?

Umm... The time the class starts? I need to find out which is better. I am thinking of pushing it back either earlier or later due to it conflicting with Wallet's

GMT -5 is not a time. That's a timezone.

I don't believe you have any knowledge on this field, but then again, neither to I (the modeling part).
