Any site that shows the page is secure should be legitimate as the information being sent back and forth is encrypted. However, most people get their number stolen due to spyware on their own computer.

I hardly ever use debit cards online so my bank knows that I only make online purchases after notifying them first. So even if it's stolen, they'll know if I'm the one doing it or not and I never get those handicapped calls asking if I've just recently purchased an alligator leash.

ebay owns paypal, a great middleman for online shopping.
they even recover up to 1000 dollars for you if haxed or ripped off.

Well considering paypal is a legit business and doesn't like fraud I would guess so

ites best to confirm your checking account (that your debit card is working for) on paypal. its to meet a few standards that allow paypal to insure more of your money for you.

plus then you have the option of paying with your bank account itself instead of the card if you choose to. allowing your own bank to allow its secure online banking system to also protect you.
