Author Topic: Building a Deathrun (need some ideas)  (Read 1665 times)

I'm building a deathrun,and I'm working on the 2nd floor (level green), and I'm running out of trap ideas, here's what I have

*Platform breaking on touch
*Landmines
*Hallway with arrow traps (Player Activated closing walls)
*Rocket trap
*Lava trap
*Falling boulder
*Rolling ball
*Avoid Rockets while in mud (mud slows you down using zone events)
*Another breaking glass
*Teleport Pad to the start
*Ice Curve (using zone events)

(I'll add some screenshots later :D)

Telport pad to the start sounds a bit harsh. How about having some suspended 4x4 plates all held equal distances apart, but most break about 0.5 seconds after getting on them, promoting fast jumping and quick reflexes - not all spots where there should be one there is one, meaning people have to constantly see where they have to jump next.  Also, how about a sort of 'puzzle', a player has to stop a pinball from going into a little hole (by standing infront of it) else they are killed.

well, how would they die, an explosion? also, you could skip the trap, unless if you stop the ball a door opens or whatnot :/


you could always make them have to try and direct the ball into a larger hole, if they miss either holes a new pinball is fired. For death,i would envision a wall appearing, blocking their path and a pile of projectiles or some explosions kill them.

oooh i like the wall idea :D

this should give you some small ideas, like how they can go from one story to the next easy

i love the classic invisible floor patch

basically, you have a small checker grid of patches with floor and patches "without" floor

the patches "without" floor actually have a few bits of floor but you have to use something to reveal their location, like a flamethrower to see if it hits anything or not

That sounds like something from star trek i once saw.

Make a platform that reveals almost-invisible steps that will disappear after a few seconds.

Then make a whole maze of those things.

Then one person could stand on a 'reveal' pad while the rest go up the stairs.

Unless you decollision them or something while visible, but that leads to even more annoying possibilities...

A button to click to reveal the pad which reveals the steps?

And you have to hurry before the platform and steps disappear?

Hey its been awhile since ive seen deathrun pop up ever since my crappy virus getting rid of my save, ill be glad to help in anyway.

I was actually thinking about this a while ago, and I had some great ideas. One is you have two door and at the start of the match it randomly picks one to be a kill door, the other door is safe but no one knows which is which.

Also you could make like a button that triggers a fan and pushes you off an narrow pathway.

this has got to be the first time ive seen someone make a deathrun. this would be awesome. just like in garrys mod  :cookieMonster:
