This post is completely inadequate.  People don't know what console.log is.  They don't know where their Blockland folder is.  They don't know what a folder is.  They don't know where they install things.  They have file extensions turned off so they don't see the ".log".  They don't know how to attach something.

Sadly, that's true. There DOES need to be a tutorial for this, though. If it weren't for the fact I know I'd screw up a step and not be able to edit it, I'd make my own. :/

I'll try again. How does this sound?

Step 1. Start Blockland
Step 2: hit the ` or ~ button, its right below the esc button
Step 3. Type this:
Code: [Select]
trace(1); into the console, and press enter.
Step 4. Do what you would normally do until you get to your problem.
Step 5. Open Control Panel(for windows), and find your Program Files folder.
Step 6. Go into the Program Files folder, and look for the Blockland folder. Double-click it.
Step 7. Look for the file "console.log.
Step 8. Save it in somewhere easy to find, like My Documents. Or, just keep it there in the Blockland folder.
Step 9. Go to the forums and make the topic about your problem.
Step 10. Type whatever you would type about your problem, and hit Additional Options.
Step 11. Hit the browse button.
Step 12. Go to where your console.log was saved (Where you put it if you moved it)
Step 13. Double-click the console.log
Step 14. Post.

Whew that was long! I hope that that's good.

4. attach console.log
Now they have to find another tutorial on how to do that.

Still not in-depth enough. Let me try.

How To Post Your "Console.log" (Windows Vista)
Have you ever been asked to post your "console.log" but don't know how? Do you not know what a console.log even is? This tutorial is for you. Your console.log is a file that records what Blockland did during the last time you played. Because most problems are evident when an experienced player looks at the console, it is very helpful to post your console.log when you have a problem. Follow these steps exactly.

First thing's first: Make sure you know what you were doing when the problem happened. If you haven't played Blockland since the problem occurred (this means even starting it up), skip to step 9.

1. Start Blockland.
2. Enter Single Player or start a server, whichever one makes your problem happen.
3. Make sure you have all of the add-ons enabled that you did when the problem occurred.
4. When you have entered your server/single player, open the console by pressing the "~" key on your keyboard. It should be below the "Esc" key, and to the left of the "1" key.
5. Type this into the text bar at the bottom: trace(1); (make sure you include the semicolon!)
6. Press the enter key to enter it into the console. If the console says "Syntax error in input", redo it. You made a mistake in typing it in.
7. Do whatever you did the last time that made the problem happen.
8. When the problem happens, quit Blockland.
9. Go to your topic on the forums about your problem. If you haven't made one, do so, and make sure to describe exactly what happens.
10. Click Reply if you already have a topic. If you don't, do the next steps to your first post.
11. Click Additional Options below the text box.
12. Click on the button that says "Browse..."
13. On the left of the window that appears, click on "Computer". You may have to click on a tab that says "Folders ^" to get it to appear.
14. Double click on the drive that you installed Blockland on. It should be your C drive.
15. Double click on Blockland.
16. There should be a file that is called console. It's a text document, and the icon is a piece of paper.
Note: If your console says "0 KB" in the size column at the right side of the menu, go back to step 1 and try again.
17. Double click on the console file.
18. Type something into the "Message" text box. It can be "Here is my console.log" or something similar.
19. Click Post.

Congratulations, you've just learned how to do one of the most vital things you can do to let people help you with any game-related problems you have.
