Author Topic: Spock's Clan Rant  (Read 2147 times)

Again I say, it is difficult to make a clan-wide eventing project for various reasons:

1) People can't use other people's named bricks
2) People don't think alike
3) Explaining why someone did something in an event program is immensely difficult
4) If a problem occurs, the 'debugger' probably won't have adequate knowledge to it's cause.

The best bet is to have one person make a easy-to-develop for base of an event project, and have clan members work around that. The iPC in iEvent is going in the right direction, since it's mainly driven by lastMsg variables from the player. I've been trying to pull this off with RelayFire.

It's just generally is hard to pull off with more than one person.

There are multiple antidotes for this problem.

- A: Don't make an eventing clan, dur hur.
- B: Make a collaboration project; multiple players work together to piece together parts of a larger project.
- C: There are very few opportunities  in an eventing situation to use co-op without some real connections between the members. If the members of your clan cannot handle this, they shouldn't be in an eventing clan.

Instead of whining and not making anything, or making solo projects and taking credit for them, actually try. If you need to download a voice chat program to easily share thoughts, do so.

What about my clan? We haven't done much in awhile though. xD.

I've really never seen anything by CotB, because you've been pretty inactive since I joined Blockland.

Yeah... We're starting a project soon, or maybe finishing our current one... We've been inactive for awhile.. Lol.

lol clans for a building game.
Tell that to the ROBLOX admins. They support clans because they actually have an official CLAN SYSTEM.
But you have to pay "robux" to make a clan. -_-

I miss USSR and MoTE. ):
ME TOO!!! They were great. (Even though I was too new back then to really know what a clan was in the first place, I do remember going to their servers, MoTE was always full of nice builds, and the great USSR halloween server was fun too even though that's the only memory I have of USSR before it died.)

Spock, how long have you been waiting to get this out? :P

Also I agree with your points, but I also think we should support less skilled clans. There is practically always someone better than you in some areas, so not everyone can be as skilled as others, espiecially newcomers. Of course, every clan should have organization, productivity, and a friendly environment, but not every one will contain the most skilled members. Newcomers usually want to be a part of something to have a purpose in the game, and if every clan only took the best of players, how could they accomplish that? Without newbies, where would the rest of us be? Almost everyone is new at some point. Being a part of a clan brings out the best in everyone and gives you a sense of purpose. Everyone should have that opportunity.

Of course Lil. I'm ranting the activity and productivity of clans, not the quality of their builds compared to better players.

I know, I completely agree, just wanted to add that to the rant so there's no confusion. :)
