Silver Lake, MI. Home to the massive Silver Lake sand dunes, where you can off-road in the dunes.
Did we offroad? Yes.
With? A rental jeep.
Was it fun? No.
The jeep was a stock jeep with the tires deflated for traction and the carpet ripped out. It wasn't worth any amount of money we spent renting it. Would have got ATVs but I don't have my license. My father tells us stories about when he was 18-20 they built sand rails and tore up the dunes. Goddamnit, way to build hype for nothing. Keeping in mind that was the thing I was looking forward to the most (more like the only thing), the whole trip sucked. Went there, went out on the dunes, was throughly disappointed, then went sight seeing (Captain Yuki McNegative hates sightseeing) (loving light houses). We then drove 2 hours to Traverse City to do go to vineyards to taste wine. I'm underage, and so is my brother, so my parents DRAGGED us along to go sit in a hotel room/car while they tasted wine. We then rode in the car for 5 and a half hours to get home. With the money we spent on the vacation, I would be a hundred times happier if they bought me a bottle of mountain dew and some chips. Doesn't take something expensive and complicated to make me happy.
Summary: Hate vacationing with my family, never have to do it again, but I am going back to Silver Lake, with friends and some REAL off-road vehicles.
PROTIP: Don't rent.
Oh and the day we left some girl told me she likes me so instead of talking to her I did all of that. Great.
