Author Topic: Internet randomly drops.  (Read 1053 times)

Ever since we've gotten our new router/modem in one for Verizon FiOs (Fiber Optics) internet, more specifically since they put in a new fiber optic wire that just goes around the living room instead of through the kitchen, the master bedroom, my bedroom and then the living room, my internet randomly drops. Even MORE specifically, at night.

I don't know the router specs, but I'll get that tomorrow.
I have Verizon Fiber Optics internet, and right now for some reason the signal quality is Very Good and says 48 mbps. This is seriously unusual since I'm barely 3 yards and a wall away from it, and it has strong signal strength. Even if I'm 1 yard away from it on my bed it sometimes drops. Keep in mind this is my laptop we're talking about. My desktop is fine.

Cut the first paragraph. The second is all we need. In fact the first just makes it confusing.

Do you have another wifi enabled computer in your house? ry that. see if it drops the signal.

If it does:
Router needs help! If its from Verison get them to fix it. if its yours get a new one!

If it doesn't:
Your internal wifi needs help! Get a USB or Cardman (or whatever that thing is called) WIfi card! Or replace the one in your laptop! Or get a new laptop!

If only it were so easy. I could get a $900 if my parents didn't pitch $1500 for this piece of stuff hunk of metal they call a "laptop".

Oh I know what you mean. I had to beg my parents to not get a laptop for my brother, and let me get it for him, as I could easily find the same thing for half the price (Which I did even more so, from 900 to 250.)

Firmware Version:   20.9.0
Model Name:   MI424WR-GEN2
Hardware Version:   E

There. It's Motorola btw.

Did you upgrade the firmware on the router?
My dad puts in FiOS in people's homes
:o

Disregard that. Didn't read the above post.
Did you set your router security to low? It may be thinking you are a threat for a second.
It did that to my Dad's laptop for a while then we set down the security

If your internet randomly drops, then you should hang it up!

we had something like this it means your using to much bandwidth and for the router and the router can't take it and it drops and then resets and comes back

My internet randomly drops too, but I have comcast.
