Author Topic: Comcast?  (Read 2847 times)

I just moved in to my new house, and we are getting Comcast Internet, I have heard some pretty bad things about it though. Anyone here have comcast?

My granparents have it; I never had any problems. I was only using it for a week, though. I have Charter at home. They're pretty nice.

I believe that is what we are going to get.  50 would be very nice :D

when i was in Minneapolis we had comcast, i would demand the best internet, and some other guy wanted a stuffload of tv channels.

our monthly bill for cable was like 400 a month lol.
but i guess when 8 people do mostly watching tv and goofing on a computer at home, its not much of a bill to pay.

and no.... if you have 50m download and 20m up.
and one starfish in the house is running a single torrent, you STILL cant play a game!!!

Torrents do rape your internet, I'm hoping I can even do torrents Comcast seems to have something that blocks you from reaching your seeds. I figuer there must be a way to get around it though.

I get great Download and Upload speeds with Comcast. I've never had a problem with them thus far, and we have the Cable/Phone/Internet bullstuff but it makes your internet cheaper.

I have comcast. Never had problems.

well you don't have a choice, cable companies buy out the region every few years, and all lines belong to 1 company that got the area.

you could go with stuffty satellite or lame stuff DSL i guess.

We have Charter, Comcast and Frontier.

I have it. Works fine for me.

I torrented Runes Of Magic with no problems.

But whatever you do, don't get AT&T. I have it at my other house; 110kbps Down and 20kbps Up. The connection itself is pretty reliable, but it's slow as hell. (Doesn't affect ping in games though.)

FiOS is better from my experience.
- Responding service. Comcast's phone lines are always full so you can never ask for service
- Upgrading speeds in your area almost every month if you have a slow FiOS speed in your area
- Actual fiberoptics, unlike Comcast. Comcast simply advertised this after they found FiOS had it. Comcast is still loving cable.
- FiOS does not block torrent ports. Convenient when downloading games with a BitTorrent downloader
Call up your local Verizon building and ask when your area will get it
:D
