Author Topic: I'm thinking of buying a new computer.  (Read 1449 times)

I'm looking around for good gaming Desktop PCs, ones that can run F3 on atleast high.
I'm wondering if this one will work well.

Might need to get a new graphics card. If you can find a better, cheaper one, then go ahead and link me to it.
Or find a better graphics card I could maybe put in, rather than the current one.

I have Mobility version of same graphics card. And F3 works fine on mediumish.
I'd say you can play F3 fine on that PC.

You shouldn't buy from any of those known companies, either you should build it yourself or find somewhere not that huge that can make it for you.

This.
HP sucks. Plus, you can get more for your money if you custom build it.

8GB RAM is useless nowadays. Even 4GB is more than enough for gaming.

4GB is more than enough for most things.

I used a machine with 8GB and a quad at a Best Buy earlier, I felt a very small performance difference over my machine, which has 2GB of ram and an AMD dual.

Lil, actually, post your current computer's specs.

HP's actually the best I've seen.  Dell is BAD.  Custom builds are awesome. :D

If you buy one of HP's new notebooks/netbooks, they have this thing built onto their motherboards that, lets say you want to add a 3G modem or bluetooth to an empty PCI-e slot, you put it in, OH WAIT, the BIOS isn't gonna let your PC boot because the PCI-e card isn't HP branded! And I wouldn't be surprised if they did the same with their desktop PC's now.

And there's nothing wrong with Dell, I used one from 2007-a few months ago, it worked just fine for me, never gave me any problems.

However, indeed, Custom Built PC's are the best.

That's just handicapped.  My brother just got a new HP laptop.  I like it.  But the setup is just annoying.  We don't want to watch hands bring up the next menu, that we're just going to say no to.

HP sure is one of the better prebuilt pc's, but they still suck.

Yeah, and another thing about prebuilt PC's.
The preinstalled Windows Vista.
Pretty much, whenever you get vista preinstalled on a PC, it's always loaded with a bunch of bloatware that you need to remove to get your PC to boot up faster and to run faster, unless you buy the PC and install a clean copy of XP, Vista or 7. In fact, it takes just about as long to install a clean OS than it takes to remove all the bloatware. This isn't pointed at HP, this is pointed to pretty much all prebuilt PC's.

If anyone can link me to a computer customization site, I'd be grateful.
