The word backfire in general use usually refers to a plan where the opposite of the desired effect happens or the perpetrator is directly affected as opposed to their intended target.

No. I'm not affected, there is a difference between "Backfire" and "Blame the one who did the thread" Backfire means "A shot back to the one who did the thread, with his own information" There is a lot of threads that have "Backfires" and they are only some dudes writing about the poster. That is not BACKFIRE.
