Author Topic: Are My Servers Always Going To Be Dead With This port forward info?  (Read 968 times)

I was just about to host the portal challenge server, but I quickly re-did my ports to make sure that I didn't do anything wrong the previous time, causing the immense lag.  So I host it, for about 45 minutes, and I release nobody came.  I quickly saved the bricks, checked if any-one else noticed this.  Block Builder posted it was dead.  Here is what I have writen down for my ports.
Service name - Blockland Port start - 28000 Port end - 28030 Server IP Address 192.168.0.30

For the IP address, I used the static one.  Was that also a correct move?

Just to be sure, follow this:
Windows:
-Start
-(Vista, otherwise skip) Search box at bottom
-(Vista type it in, otherwise click it) Run
-Type CMD and hit enter.
-In the black box, type in: ipconfig
-Press enter.
-Under whatever connection you're using look for IP address (Possibly [MouseOverThis])
Note: Do not use one of those "what is my IP?" sites for this. That will give you your modem's IP. You don't want that.
-Make sure that IP says 192.168.0.30
-If not, change your port forwarding IP to what is displayed.
-Change the end port to 32 to be able to host for 32 players, or higher if you plan on hosting dedicated for more than 32.

I mean for the end port, 28032, or higher for dedicated servers if you want more.

-(Vista type it in, otherwise click it) Run
-Type CMD and hit enter.
Or, you could just type in CMD and hit enter without opening Run.

Right. Why didn't I think of that?

Dont flrget your modem. Gotta Fwd that too. :nes:

Sorry for late reply, and a kinda huge bump.  Is this port forwarding thing Case Sensitive?  If it is, then I think I found my problem.

No you don't, because you can't.

What part of it would require a case anyways?

I don't recall any capital 0s existing.

The only reason I could think of for capitals is some routers will give the option of labling a port forwarding rule. I know that mine does, and if that is what you are thinking about, no it doesnt, you could call that rule cheese for all the router cares, as long as it knows which ports to forward.

Another thing you may want to try is make sure no firewall/network manager programme is blocking blockland from accepting connections. You may want to set up a special "rule" on whatever firewall you are using just to make sure.

E-maxx dont post things like that, they dont help.

I capotolized the B in Blockland.  It's a force of habit.

I fowarded my Speedstream 4200 Modem. That was my problem.

This still doesn't work.  My friend said it's dead again.  I'm getting frustrated with this.  I wish I knew how I did it before.
