Cant use Age of Time

Whenever I start the Desktop shortcut Age of Time, this appears in my face 3 times
"Hardware failed to switch to the specified mode"
How do I get this to work? I've reinstalled it twice already. Im using Vista if that helps any

Attempt to run in Windows XP compatibility mode.
If that doesn't work, look for the file that clarifies your options, and then make sure it's in DirectD3D mode or something.
Then change it to OpenGL ingame and it should fix..I think.
