Actually I just corrected it, I wasn't really being an ass about it at all. I didn't call him stupid, he just didn't know, but then had to pretend he was right.

He didn't pretend he was right, he stated that's what he had always learned the name as.  You then proceeded to pretend he was being an egotistical know it all, and therefore were being an ass.
