Author Topic: my computer lags alot  (Read 1182 times)

Then that's probably not the problem.

Do you have a lot of things installed on your computer?

How old is your computer and/or graphics card?
i don't know exactly :l

If either of those is old or your computer has a bunch of stuff on it, it significantly loses speed. That could possibly be your problem.

Go to Run and type dxdiag into the dialog box. Go to the Display tab and tell us what your graphics card is (It's in the Device section). Someone who knows a lot about graphics cards can tell you if yours is okay or not.

Could you also include how much RAM or Memory you have please.

my memory is 32.0 MB

32???? That is either incredibly low and you have a really old computer, or you are reading the wrong stuff.
Try telling me what is under Paging File.

Also tell us all the information about the Graphics card.

i dont see a paging file and again i say witch one is graphic card???

i got a IBM ThinkPad
That is the problem. This most likely means that it has a VERY old, crappy integrated Intel graphics chip. The only thing you can do is turn the graphics down all the way, but even the nyou still will probable get lag. Solution: Buy a computer that does not suck.

All the bits which you listed will help diagnose the problem
Graphics name, manufacturer, ship type,DAC type, current Display Mode or Monitor

As far as I can tell the IBM ThinkPads vary vastly in their quality.

If you just click "Save all information" in the dxdiag screen, and then attach it to a post, it will save you having to write down all the specs and we will see what can be done (if anything).

I have a feeling that Starcraftman may be right and that you need a new computer, however I would be willing to make sure that there is no other alternative for you before I commit to that statement.

The problem is you have a 8 year old laptop equipped with a radeon mobility 7500 which was crap when it was brand new.  The only solution here is to buy a new computer.

i found the graphic card i think ATI Technologies Inc.

This topic is lol. 32 MB of memory? That's not even enough for like Windows 2000.

I didn't know laptops even lived that long.
