Avatar is among the best shows I've ever seen, and I hate anime. Its targeted at kids, sure, but its a very deep show with great characters and development.

apparently you dont hate anime then...and avatar is so.... meh... i hate its lack of violence. it tries to be funny, too. Yes, I watch it, but it seems extremely childish.
also i have no clue how people hate anime, i mean, its an animation style, how can you hate it? sure you might dislike it and not watch it, but are you going to start a war to stop animes?
edit:ive got a list, but i only remember a few
- toaru majutsu no index: bunch of people go to an academy to learn scientific powers like lightning and fire and stuff, but its all scientific, like mega steroids. this one guy has this mega arm, no not the god hand. this arm can cancel all powers. this girl appears out of no where and starts explaining magic, and he doesnt believe it. the girl explains how his arm is magic, and he says its scientifically altered to destroy anything, even "magic". so he tries to prove it by touching her magical robe....and gets ripped into peices creep STYLE
in the first episode, it was loving epic, this powerful girl person uses electricity to launch a coin 300 mph past this guys head.
Eve no jikan (or time of eve): nice short 6 episode anime where in this cafe, robots and humans are treated fairly.
tales of symphonie and world destruction are both good as well
