What is the distance between the 2 hands on the player? (if the hands are raised)

I'd say about the size of the head, maybe a little more.

There are reference models for Milkshape. I'd suggest searching.

The Blender reference model isn't very good. One of the hands is larger than the other for some reason...

In Milkshape, the hands are just over 8 Milkshape units apart, reference dimensions for a 1x1 brick for comparison.
