Author Topic: Hoogle has a problem... A BAD ONE  (Read 1011 times)

Hi, my name is Hoogle, recently I bought a new computer (this detail is relevant to the story) and Blockland does not seem to work on it. It has worked on my last computer (see how I was subtly foreshadowing a problem had arrised). I'm going to try the AMD Dual Core doodah though I don't know if that would be much help... BECAUSE ITS A TRIPPLE CORE PROCESSOR  :cookieMonster: To be more precise it's an AMD Phenom 8750

To be more precise. When I run Blockland the menu works fine and stuff it's only when I start a game or join a server is when the problems start. It sometimes loads completely and then it crashes or loads part way and then crashes. I've never entered actual gameplay. For those who may be interested I have copied some texts wich Mrs Windows Vista gave me. What she had to say was...

Now I thought she was just kidding at first but this problem has persited in the most persistant of fasions. So I ask you old chaps, beans and govenors for help. In return GRILL PLATING

Could you post your console.log (after you have recieved the crash). It may be something wrong with the install. Also - I would suggest running in administrator mode, and also dont install BL to the programme files folder on Vista (I think)... I believe it has some funky permissions on vista which make things go craaaaazy.

Here's the console. Also Blockland has been installed in C:/

I just tried running in administrator too and the same problem happened. I clicked Start a Game and when it went into the loading screen a second after it crashed.

Have you tried running in XP compatability? I do that :3. Some people have it working without I believe. But yeah, right click shortcut, properties, compatability, change the drop down to XP Service Pack 2 and then also tick the Administrator box aswell (just to be sure).

Im assuming your old computer was XP

I had already set the compatibility mode to that and it doesn't work :(. And yes my last PC was XP.

Thanks for helping though.

Hm, this is really odd. Also it isn't your processor. The problem with dual core AMDs is that the game runs too fast, not the game crashing.

Now one question, right click Computer, and click Properties. Tell me what kind of Vista you have, 32-bit or 64-bit. It should be near the top next to "Vista Home basic/business/home premium/ultimate".

what triple core possessor only has 2.4ghz? I have a quad core that has 6.7. that is kinda low for a triple core.

Has Blockland been known to have faults on 64 bit?

Nope, I am running faultlessly on 64.

2.4 for each core. So 2.4x3 = 7.2 however you always lose a bit so it would probably be around 6.5
Also, not a helpful comment.

I will agree with Nick that this is a very weird problem, there seems to be no errors in your fresh install of Blockland and all your components should support Blockland. Erm, what I would try next is try to update any drivers (Dont use Windows update, it sucks. Manually go and find your drivers at the respective websites, especially for your GPU).

I'll give it a go. I'll update soon.

BL-ID 999999? that looks weird.

That's because it was in Single Player.

Ohhhh.....

*insert "the more you know" music here

I'll give it a go. I'll update soon.

Found your driver for your graphics card. I love how console.log tells you the users graphics and processor.

This is the Catalyst Control Center, basically you can change settings for separate programs and such. You need both of these apparently, and I don't suggest you change things in the CCC.
