Author Topic: Contstructor: Hole carving  (Read 1606 times)

I want to make a sink that has a drain but I don't know how to carve a cylinder hole into the sink. I know there is some way to do this though.

Use CSG Subtract.

Make a pole the width of your desired hole. Put it through where the hole would go.
Then, select it. Then use CSG.

It's better to place a normal cylinder shape inside the shape and then use the clip tool (or equivalent in constructor) to cut out around it. People are a lot better at cutting out cylinders then the computer is, and you prevent microbrushes this way. Sames goes for strange shapes.

Read the 4th comment (by Degenatron) as well.

For a cube window or whatever I'd probably just use carve/subtract though.

The clip tool can be dumb sometimes, though.  It's forgeted up some of my brushes.  Maybe it's time to switch to hammer.  I would suggest using the knife tool for this.  Clip is only triangles, I think.
