I was referring to the way in which all the people seemed to explode as if being nothing more than a water balloon being shot at by a dart sending liquid and projectiles in a mass scatter pattern covering nearby unfortunate friends.

District 9 was one of the best movies I've seen. Absolutely brilliant, especially for being made and written by independent filmmakers.
