Pandan and friends mod, they decide how it works. Addons aren't a right or democracy. However Pandan I think I would put my anger filled head in a tub of cold water if I was you.

And while it is up to the designer, you get more approval if you go with what the people want.

I thought your hat mod was fine.

You have to unlock them like that in TF2, and since you mod was based off it, it only makes sense that you would unlock them that way.

Also, I'm glad this only works on a server that is running it. If I made some epic hat pack and was using on my server so people could occasionally get one as a sort of free gift for staying on the server and people just came in and started getting them immediately, I'd be raging pissed.

I don't think you get kicked from a server and completely unable to get hats when you afk in-game without an external application.

If you're afk for 3 minutes, you will not get a hat on the next tick.
You can still get hats after that, as long as you're active.
You don't get kicked.
